Srinagar, Jul 01 (KNO): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Tuesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing of Alhaj Ghulam Mohammad Baig, affectionately known as Maam Baig, a renowned socio-political activist from Nawa Kadal, Srinagar, and a devoted Muhib of the Mirwaiz family. Mirwaiz as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Just a few weeks ago, I visited him to enquire about his health. He had a deep and abiding association with Shaheed-e-Millat and always stood firmly by his side. That same love and affection remained with me as well. He was a man steadfast in his beliefs and a dignified and respected voice of Downtown Srinagar. His passing is a personal loss for me and a significant void for our society.” Mirwaiz led Maam Baig’s funeral prayers, which were attended by a large number of people from the area. He prayed for the departed soul’s Magfirah, and extended his heartfelt condolences to his sons, Mohammad Ashraf Baig and Meraj-ud-Din Baig, and the entire bereaved family, praying to Almighty Allah to grant Maam Baig the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Mirwaiz also prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss, and urged the public to remember Maam Baig in their special prayers—(KNO)
